These Terms & Conditions govern all electrical services provided by J K P ELECTRICAL LIMITED (trading as JP Electrical & EV Solutions).

📖 1. Definitions & Interpretation
In these Terms & Conditions, unless the context otherwise requires:
- "We", "Us", "Our" means J K P ELECTRICAL LIMITED trading as JP Electrical & EV Solutions, company number 10561334
- "You", "Your", "Customer" means the person or entity engaging our services
- "Services" means all electrical installation, testing, repair, maintenance, and related services provided by us
- "Contract" means the agreement formed between us and you for the provision of Services
- "Quote" or "Quotation" means our written estimate for Services
- "Works" means the electrical work to be carried out as described in the Quotation or agreement
- "Site" means the location where Services are to be performed
- "Completion" means when the Works have been finished in accordance with the Contract
- "Consumer Rights Act 2015" means UK consumer protection legislation governing service contracts
- "Business Days" means Monday to Friday, excluding UK public holidays
✅ 2. Acceptance of Terms
By engaging our services, you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions. A contract is formed when:
- You accept our written Quotation (by signing, email confirmation, or verbal acceptance)
- You book Services through our website, phone, or email
- We commence work at your request
- You make payment or deposit for Services
Consumer Rights: If you are a consumer (not acting for business purposes), you have additional rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, including a 14-day cooling-off period for contracts made at a distance or off-premises (see Section 7).
These Terms supersede any previous agreements or representations unless expressly agreed in writing. Any variations must be confirmed in writing and signed by both parties.

- EICR testing and certification
- Fault finding and repairs
- Emergency callout services (24/7)
- EV charger installation
- Smart home automation
- Lighting design and installation
🏢 Commercial Services
- Commercial electrical installations
- Planned preventative maintenance (PPM)
- Emergency lighting testing
- PAT testing
- Fire alarm installation and maintenance
- Three-phase installations
📋 Qualifications & Standards
All Services are provided by:
- NICEIC Approved Contractors - All work meets BS 7671 (18th Edition) wiring regulations
- Which? Trusted Trader - Independently verified for quality and customer service
- Qualified Electricians - City & Guilds certified with continuous professional development
- Fully Insured - £10 million public liability insurance and £5 million professional indemnity
Quality Guarantee: We guarantee that all Services will be performed with reasonable skill and care, in accordance with industry standards, and comply with all relevant regulations.
💰 4. Quotations, Estimates & Pricing
📋 Written Quotations
Our written Quotations are:
- Fixed Price: Unless stated as an estimate, Quotations are fixed for the scope of work described
- Valid for 30 days from the date of issue
- Exclusive of VAT unless stated otherwise (VAT at 20% will be added to the final invoice)
- Subject to site survey: Quotations are based on the information provided and may be revised after inspection

📈 Additional Costs
The following may result in additional charges:
- Scope Changes: Any variations to the agreed work must be approved in writing and may incur additional costs
- Unforeseen Work: Hidden defects, asbestos, structural issues, or unsafe conditions discovered during work
- Building Control Fees: Where notifiable work requires local authority approval
- Access Issues: If access is more difficult than anticipated (scaffolding, cherry pickers, etc.)
- Materials Price Increases: If materials costs increase significantly between Quote and installation
- Out of Hours Work: Weekend or evening work by prior agreement (premium rates apply)
Important: We will always notify you of any additional costs BEFORE proceeding with extra work (except in emergencies where immediate action is required for safety).
🕐 Quote Validity
Quotations are valid for 30 days from issue. After this period:
- Prices may be subject to review due to material cost changes
- A new site survey may be required
- Availability of dates may change
💳 5. Payment Terms
💰 Payment Structure
Payment terms depend on the value and type of work:

| Emergency Callout | £85 callout fee payable on arrival | Balance on completion |
💳 Accepted Payment Methods
- Bank Transfer (preferred for large amounts)
- Credit/Debit Card (via payment terminal or online)
- Cash (for amounts under £500)
- Cheque (subject to clearance - 5 business days)
⏰ Payment Deadlines
- Deposit: Due within 7 days of Quote acceptance to secure booking
- Final Payment: Due within 7 days of invoice date
- Emergency Work: Payment due immediately on completion
⚠️ Late Payment
If payment is not received by the due date:
- We reserve the right to charge interest at 8% per annum above Bank of England base rate (Late Payment of Commercial Debts Act 1998)
- A £40 debt recovery fee may be charged
- We may suspend ongoing or future work until payment is received
- Legal action may be taken to recover unpaid debts
Payment Difficulties? If you're having trouble paying, please contact us immediately. We're happy to discuss payment plans or alternative arrangements before taking any recovery action.
📜 Certificates & Documentation
Certificates (EICR, Minor Works, Installation Certificates) will be issued upon:
- Completion of the work to required standards
- Receipt of full payment
Original certificates may be withheld until payment is received in full.
❌ 6. Cancellation & Cooling-Off Rights
🛡️ Consumer Rights Act 2015 - 14 Day Cooling-Off Period
If you are a consumer and the contract was made:
- Online, by phone, or by email (distance contract), OR
- At your home or workplace (off-premises contract)
You have 14 calendar days from the date of contract to cancel without giving a reason.
How to Cancel: Email us at info@jpelectrical.work or call 0113 418 0501 with your name, address, and date of contract.
⚡ Exception - Work Started Within 14 Days
If you request work to begin within the 14-day cooling-off period (e.g., emergency repairs), you will lose the right to cancel once we start work. However, if you cancel before we start, you'll receive a full refund minus any costs we've already incurred (e.g., materials ordered).
📅 Cancellation by Customer (After Cooling-Off Period)
If you cancel after the 14-day period or if cooling-off rights don't apply:

❌ Cancellation by Us
We reserve the right to cancel or postpone Services if:
- Unsafe working conditions exist at the Site
- Access to the Site is not provided as agreed
- You fail to pay the deposit or any installment when due
- We discover the scope of work was materially misrepresented
- Extreme weather or unforeseen circumstances make work impossible
- We become aware of a conflict of interest
If we cancel, you will receive a full refund of any payments made.
🌧️ Weather & Force Majeure
We are not liable for delays caused by:
- Extreme weather conditions (heavy rain, snow, high winds)
- Government restrictions or lockdowns
- Material supply chain disruptions
- Acts of God, terrorism, or civil unrest
We will reschedule work as soon as reasonably possible and keep you informed of any delays.
✋ 7. Customer Responsibilities & Obligations
To enable us to complete the Works efficiently and safely, you agree to:
🏠 Before Work Begins
- Provide accurate information about the property, existing installations, and scope of work required
- Disclose any hazards including asbestos, structural issues, or unsafe conditions
- Obtain permissions from landlords, freeholders, or local authorities where required
- Ensure clear access to all work areas and parking facilities for our vehicles
- Remove or protect valuable items, furniture, and belongings from work areas
- Arrange for pets to be kept away from work areas
- Pay the deposit to confirm the booking
⚙️ During Work
- Provide access to the Site at agreed times and dates
- Provide electricity and water if required for the Works
- Allow safe working conditions and not interfere with our staff or equipment
- Keep children and pets away from work areas for safety
- Inform us immediately of any concerns or changes to requirements
- Do not use electrical installations while work is in progress (unless expressly permitted by our electrician)
✅ After Completion
- Inspect the Works and notify us of any issues within 7 days
- Make final payment within 7 days of invoice
- Do not alter or interfere with our installations without consulting us first (this may void warranties)
- Maintain installations in accordance with manufacturer guidelines
⚠️ Failure to Meet Obligations
If you fail to meet these obligations:
- We may need to postpone work (you may be charged for wasted visits)
- Additional costs may be incurred (e.g., extra visits, materials waste)
- Completion may be delayed
- Warranties may be affected or voided
- We reserve the right to terminate the Contract and charge for work completed
Safety First: If you do not provide safe working conditions or disclose known hazards, we will stop work immediately and may charge for the visit.
🛡️ 8. Liability, Insurance & Limitations
✅ What We're Liable For
We accept full liability for:
- Death or personal injury caused by our negligence (unlimited liability)
- Damage to property caused by our negligence or breach of contract (up to £10 million public liability cover)
- Defective workmanship - we will rectify defects free of charge during the warranty period
- Breach of contract - we will remedy breaches or provide compensation where appropriate
❌ What We're NOT Liable For
We are not liable for:
- Pre-existing defects in your electrical installation or property (unless we've agreed to fix them)
- Damage caused by third parties after we complete work
- Consequential losses such as loss of business, loss of profits, or loss of data (except for consumers where caused by our negligence)
- Installations altered or tampered with by you or third parties after completion
- Failure to maintain installations according to manufacturer guidelines
- Force majeure events beyond our reasonable control
- Access issues or site conditions not disclosed to us
💼 Our Insurance Cover
- Public Liability Insurance: £10 million
- Professional Indemnity Insurance: £5 million
- Employers' Liability Insurance: £10 million
Copies of our insurance certificates are available on request.
⚖️ Limitation of Liability (Business Customers Only)
For business customers (not consumers), our total liability for any claim is limited to:
- The total value of the Contract, OR
- £10 million (whichever is lower)
This does not apply to consumers - your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 are unaffected.
Consumer Rights: Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death, personal injury, fraud, or your statutory rights under UK consumer protection law.
✅ 9. Warranties, Guarantees & Defects
🛠️ Workmanship Warranty
We guarantee that all work will be:
- Performed with reasonable skill and care
- Completed in accordance with BS 7671 (18th Edition) wiring regulations
- Carried out using quality materials suitable for the intended purpose
- Free from defects in workmanship for the warranty period
⏰ Warranty Periods

| EICR Testing | Certificate valid for 5 years (residential) or 3 years (commercial) |
| Emergency Repairs | 6 months workmanship guarantee (unless otherwise agreed) |
🔧 What's Covered Under Warranty
- Defects in workmanship or installation
- Failures caused by faulty work or materials we supplied
- Remedial work to bring installations up to required standards
❌ What's NOT Covered Under Warranty
- Normal wear and tear
- Damage caused by misuse, neglect, or accident
- Alterations or repairs by third parties
- Failure to maintain installations according to manufacturer guidelines
- Damage from power surges, lightning strikes, or flooding (unless caused by our work)
- Defects in equipment/materials covered by manufacturer's warranty
📞 Making a Warranty Claim
To make a warranty claim:
- Contact us within 7 days of discovering the defect
- Provide your invoice number and description of the issue
- Allow us reasonable access to inspect the defect
- We will attend within 7 business days (or sooner for urgent issues)
- We will rectify genuine defects free of charge
NICEIC Warranty: All NICEIC work is also covered by the NICEIC Complaints Procedure and Platinum Promise warranty scheme, providing additional protection.
🔄 Consumer Rights Act 2015
If you are a consumer, these warranty terms do not affect your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, including the right to:
- Services performed with reasonable care and skill
- Services completed within a reasonable time
- Repeat performance or price reduction for defective services

- Acknowledgment: We will acknowledge your complaint within 3 business days
- Investigation: We will investigate the issue and may visit the Site if necessary
- Response: You will receive a full written response within 14 days (or sooner for urgent matters)
- Resolution: We will propose a fair resolution (repair, refund, or compensation as appropriate)

⚖️ Legal Action
If all else fails, you have the right to take legal action through:
- Small Claims Court (for claims up to £10,000)

🔒 11. Data Protection & Privacy
We process your personal data in accordance with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

- Job records: 6 years (HMRC requirement)
- EICR certificates: 7 years (legal compliance)
- Financial records: 6 years (HMRC requirement)

⚖️ 12. General Legal Provisions
📝 Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with any Quotation or written agreement, constitute the entire contract between us and supersede all previous discussions, correspondence, or agreements.
✍️ Variations
Any changes to these Terms or the Contract must be agreed in writing and signed by both parties.
🔄 Assignment
You may not transfer your rights or obligations under the Contract to any other person without our prior written consent.
⚖️ Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
⏰ Waiver
Our failure to enforce any right or provision does not constitute a waiver of that right or provision.
🏴 Governing Law & Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will apply to new contracts entered into after the effective date. Existing contracts remain subject to the Terms in force at the time of agreement.
